How to avoid cracking in aluminum plate processing

In sheet metal processing, it is easy to crack when aluminum plate is processed. Many sheet metal processing workers are confused about this. Why does the aluminum plate crack after bending? So how to process to prevent aluminum plate from cracking?

First of all, let's understand the causes of bending and cracking of aluminum plates:

1. Hardness of aluminum plate

The hardness of aluminum plate has a direct impact on the bending cracking of aluminum plate. If the hardness is too high, it is easy to crack. When processing aluminum plates, it is necessary to select a batch of high-quality aluminum materials. The quality of aluminum materials is checked according to the product trademark and product conditions. The commonly used aluminum materials are series 1 and 3, and the high hardness aluminum materials are series 6 and 7. Annealing treatment is required before processing, so that the aluminum plates can be bent in the "O" state.

2. Thickness of aluminum plate

The thickness of aluminum plate is too thick to bend easily, so a thinner aluminum plate is selected for processing.

3. R Angle of corner bend

When the R angle is bent, the greater the angle is, the easier it is to bend. Therefore, try to bend the R angle too large.

4. Texture of aluminum plate

When bending, it shall be bent according to the texture of the aluminum plate, instead of parallel bending, it shall be bent in a straight direction.

5. Aluminum sheet stretch forming

The proper processing procedure should be bending first and then stretching, which can reduce the probability of cracking.

Considerations during actual processing:

Combined with the actual processing situation, 1060-O state is soft, suitable for bending or stamping, and 90 degree bending is also possible. However, in most cases, aluminum plates need to be bent and have a certain strength. Although it is too soft to bend, it is not suitable for most occasions.

At this time, 3003-H24/H1125052-O state/H32/H112 and other types are often selected. In general, if the R angle is a little larger, the aluminum plate with a little harder can also be bent. Therefore, according to the needs of industrial design, considering the factors such as processability, aesthetics, strength durability, etc., select the appropriate aluminum alloy, and adjust the bending R angle appropriately to obtain a suitable value.
